Ascending Touch Massage now offers a complimentary hot stone massage treatment with every massage. Of course you can opt-out if this isn’t your preference, but if you haven’t had the hot stone treatment before, we would highly recommend you give it a try!
Combining hot stones with a full body massage provides a very therapeutic and relaxing spa experience. This combination encourages blood flow throughout the body and has a sedative effect that can help promote better sleep, stress reduction, help to ease tensed muscles, and is beneficial to the immune system. Hot stones can also be beneficial for calming nerves and promoting a healthy functioning nervous system.
We do not place the stones on the body for any extended amount of time. We keep the stones moving for a safe and enjoyable massage experience. Warm stones have been used for therapeutic purposes for hundreds of years. Native Americans would place the stones over an open fire and place on the body where needed. Generally, the stones that are used today in the spa industry are made from basalt.
As with any form of treatment, you should check with your health care practitioner if you have any health conditions before you schedule an appointment. Here is a list of some of the conditions where hot stone massage would not be right for you : Pregnancy, Fever, Acute System Condition, Advanced Diabetes, Cancer, Skin Conditions, Recent Surgeries. Keep in mind this applies with any condition where you are under a physician’s care.

For those of you that are new to Yoga, considering trying it for the first time, or are curious how the practice is benefiting you, this information will be a great way to justify dedicating the time to practice. Although some people see results immediately, for others it takes some time. As with any form of exercise, the more you do it the easier it becomes. I see amazing results in my classes every week. When my students keep up with the practice on a regular basis, I see benefits such as increased range of motion, balance, stability, and confidence! Unfortunately, many people start out intimated. I often hear people say they aren’t flexible enough for yoga. Increased flexibility is one very good reason to start, although it’s not what true Yoga is based around. Quieting the mind is very beneficial as well. Once the mind is in a true state of peace, the body will follow.
